"You will be a poor starving artist!!" This would probably be true if art is what had to put food on my table, then I'd have to resort to eating my paintings. But my job as a photographer at UW keeps food on the table, helping my husband with his snowboard video production company called "Think Thank" keeps me ambitious, and painting keeps a smile on my face.
My paintings are basically still lifes done in oil paints. I build little sets from toys I collect, (like those dioramas you used to make for book reports in school), and set up lights for dramatic effect. The toys are actors in a tableau. They are the perfect models, they never complain... and they can get away with anything.
-All of my paintings were photographed at my work: CSS Photography at the University of WA, by photographer Nancy Hines and myself.
